Oil Portrait Painting No 06/100
Wearing the correct dress for any occasion is a matter of good manners.
Loretta Young
This originally was an acrylic painting, but her face was flat, and cartoonish – not in a good way. I wanted to give her a bit more character, and bring her to life.
Parts of it I’m going to leave acrylic..like her bandana, and the background. I saw no point in painting over it in oils because I didn’t want to change anything, and the darker the color, the longer it takes to dry.
I thought she was finished, but now that I’m looking at the photos, I think I’m going to go in with a dry brush, and blend some of the oil paint. The brush edges look hard, and I need to soften it a bit.
Being able to go back in, days later, and pick up where I left off with the paint still wet is one of the many reasons I love oil paints.
I wrote, and scheduled this blog post last week. This painting is now finished, and dry enough to ship. It’s available here. SOLD! Thank you!
