Watch me paint her in this video.
This one has taken me about a month to paint. I’ve had to allow the oil paint to dry in between sessions because her skin tone was getting too muddy. Plus, I had to do a lot of detail work with a tiny brush. Hands and skin tone don’t usually give me any trouble, but for some reason I struggled on this one. I think I finally finished it a couple nights ago, but I’m going to let it sit for a few days before I decide for sure. More photos to come later.

I’m still having a studio sale in both of my Etsy shops. You can find portraits here. Florals and birds here. Some prices have been reduced greatly. I need to free up some space for more paintings.
Don’t Look, But Isn’t He Cute
Was $400, now $300
I’m thinking of painting over this one soon, if it doesn’t sell. Get it while you can.
Apologies to everyone for not visiting your blogs lately. I’ve been working around the clock, and haven’t had time. I’ve also been having trouble staying consistent with my blogging schedule, plus I have a slew of comments that I haven’t got around to reading and publishing yet either. Ugh. I hope to get it all back on track this week. I hope you understand.

My husband built these handmade shelves for drying my oil paintings. I’m not sure if I’ve ever shown a photo before. I remember writing about the shelves a couple years ago, when he was building them. I think I got busy filling them up, and forgot to post a photo.
This photo was taken with my iPhone last summer, and it’s not that great. The lighting is horrible out there in my shipping room, but I’m posting it anyway, so you can see my drying situation.
I have more of these shelves lining the walls in my studio, and office. Now that I have them, I have no idea what I’d do without them. I can’t imagine all these painting lying on my work tables, taking up space for a month while they dry. I’d never get any work done.
Snow Kept Falling
This painting sold a couple weeks ago,
but have no fear!
Prints are available here!
I wish I got to see snow this year because I find it so magical to stand inside all toasty and warm, watching it fall out of the sky. Unfortunately, that never happened. We got some ice once or twice, and that’s it. Not much of a winter, but there’s always hope for next year.

I’ve had a busy week in the studio. I painted three of these girls using the same reference photo. I’ll be showing you all of them soon.
Remember when I said our blind kitty, Sweet Pea, likes to walk across the back of our dining room chairs?
My husband reads my blog, and sent me this photo.
I’m always too busy biting my nails to think of picking up a camera.
🙂 She knows how to push my buttons.
Is it any wonder her full legal name is Sweet Pea Dare Devil Snuggle Pants Wood?
There’s no stopping this brave girl.

You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect – you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break—her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there.

You might recognize this gal because I painted her once before. I think she was the second one I painted in my ongoing sunglasses/glasses series I started last summer. So, why am I painting her again? Well, first of all, I love how the first painting came out. It’s one of my favorite paintings from the series so far.
Secondly, I had filmed me painting her for my YT channel, and then my old (I shouldn’t call it old. I had it only 2.5 years) Windows computer hard drive failed. I lost those videos, and about three weeks worth of work that I had neglected to backup. Ugh.

The Swimmer No 2 – coming soon
Here’s a friendly reminder for you..always back up your computer to an external drive. I had to learn that lesson the hard way, and I’ll never make that mistake again. Now, thanks to Time Machine, my files get backed up automatically every hour. Also, at least once a week, back up your backup drive. Hard drives fail, so it’s good to have more than one external drive.
It’s almost finished, but still a work in progress at the moment. I’m filming the process of this new painting, and will be uploading the video to my YT channel sometime in the near future.
