I had the gestural drawings and paintings I’ve been doing in my art journal in mind when I painted this one. Wanted to keep it loose, and playful. Life is serious enough most of the time.

Busy day today. I have 8 paintings I’ve been working on revising this week, and I’d love to finish them up today. It is super HOT (108F). You know it’s going to be a scorcher when it’s 90F at 10am, like it was this morning. I’ll paint for as long as I can tolerate it, and then I’ll be off to read my books for an hour or so. I have to break the workday up in the summer because I can’t function in the studio when it’s this hot. It’s better to work early morning, and late night when it’s a little cooler.
Reading – Working by Studs Terkel – this one’s pretty good so far. Since I’m a workaholic, the subject resonates with me. The author interviewed people about their jobs, and what it’s like to do the work they do. I’m really hoping he interviewed an artist.
It says on Amazon that the book was published in 2011, but my husband said he read it in college, so it’s not that new.
Also still reading The Employee Millionaire: How to Use Your Day Job to Become a Millionaire with Rental Properties. It’s a dry, educational kind of read, but I’m learning a lot about being a landlord.
