oil painting palette
I’ve seen so many artists doing art challenges for the start of the year. It makes me feel like I should play along with one of my own. It would have to be something I can knock off quickly in 5 or 10 mins a day. Maybe art journaling? Um..I’ll think about it.
It’s not anything I will commit to long term, like I did the 365 day project. At the most, maybe I’ll do 30 days, and that’s a big maybe. I’ve still been considering doing a 30 day video challenge, like I wrote about back when I was in the midst of the 365 day challenge. It’s something I’ve never done before, so it would definitely challenge me. If I do, it won’t happen until later on in the year.
I’ve also been thinking of starting a new portrait series, but I haven’t quite come up with the full concept or series title yet. I want to use cheap art supplies, keep the size small, and limit my time on each painting. That way, I can make it super affordable to buyers..that’s pretty much all I know right now. I did this a couple times in the past, and ended up painting a series of 200 portraits. I sold all but a handful of them, so it was a hit.
Right now, it’s best that I focus, tho. I’m still trying to get settled into my new house, so I don’t have time for challenges or a new series right now. My studio is a complete disaster. I need to get my photography table set up, so I can start taking photos of my work again. I also can’t find my little pots of paint that I’m used to using daily, and it’s driving me crazy.
Where are you, little pots of paint?? I miss youuuuu. 😀
I just started two custom portrait paintings for a client yesterday, and I can’t tell you how much I miss my little paint pots. Without them, I don’t have my normal everyday palette, so I’m trying to mix a little paint as I go on a palette tray. It’s not the same, and I feel as if I’m off my game right now until I find them. I know what the box looks like that I put them in, but I can’t find the darn box. Must be in a larger box somewhere, but where??
Oh, the joys of moving, eh? 😀 I laughed so hard at myself the other night when I was out in my shed, using the light on my phone to dig around in boxes. I was trying to locate an envelope, so I could ship out a painting. Boxes were falling on my head, and ugh..what a mess everything is still, but laughing is good, so that’s what I did.
Harold Zip-a-roo stopped dead in his tracks when he came face to face with this creepy peeping snowman, who has been terrorizing the neighborhood. 😀 😉
It’s not the safest neighborhood, I’ve come to realize. We also have this drunk snow woman hanging out in the backyard. I think she started to hang out some laundry, but then said “Screw it! I’m having some wine instead.” I totally understand..been there, done that a few times myself, so I get you, girl. 😀 ;))) lol
Hope you all have a great week ahead, and get lots of painting accomplished. It’s a brand new week, so let’s all kick some ass, eh?
