Those rippled lines, tho.
What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.

This is old news, but it was new to me. Maybe you too? Neuroscientists Discover a Song That Reduces Anxiety By 65% – I think it works really well. I tested it out when I was having a bit of anxiety earlier today. It calmed me down immediately. What do you think? If you like it, there’s a 10 hour version on Youtube, so you can listen all day or night.
Wow! This IG post makes me glad I pre-ordered his book the other day. I don’t know too much about this family, other than they’re popular youtubers. I’ve only watched a handful or so of their videos, but recently I caught wind of their son, and Jonathan’s story. I really wish them all the best, and I look forward to reading the book next month. After seeing Jonathan’s IG post, it sounds like the book’s written from the heart, and those type of books always appeal to me most.
Finished watching season two of Tiger King, and The Doc Antle Story. Not going to give away any spoilers, but how crazy is this story? Who to believe?
Reading about, and gawking at Emile Bernard’s French post-impressionist paintings. LOVE!
Reading (audio book) – The Hobbit by BBC Radio
I hope you’re having a lovely Monday. xo

Weirdly, I liked everything about this one, except the pink paint. Now that I’m looking at the photos, the pink is starting to grow on me. It’s still a work in progress.

I posted on my Youtube channel for the first time in 3 years. Can’t believe so much time has passed since I’ve made a video. I just recently started making these little video clips for my Etsy listings, so I figured I might as well post them on YT, my new IG, and here on my blog, also.
Need to get back to painting my oil portrait series, but I can’t get motivated to do so. It’s on my to-do list and is something I want to focus for 2022. However, I know from experience that making myself create something that I’m not into or feeling atm is usually not a good way to spend my time. So for now I’m gonna stick with something I do want to paint, and that’s abstracts. Why force it?

Watching: Finished season 3 of Succession, and now I want to watch it again. I do this every time I finish a season because I’m absolutely sure I missed something the first time around. They laid the complicated, encrypted business speak on even thicker this time around. I have no idea how the actors remember their lines. I got a bit lost, and feel I need to rewatch it or find some episode recaps to read online to get up to speed. What an amazing show, tho. The writing is absolutely fantastic – fast paced, and creative. LOVE!!
Winter:
We got snow.
It went away.
We got more snow.
It went away.
The end.
Magic exists.
Who can doubt it,
when there are rainbows and wildflowers,
the music of the wind,
and the silence of the stars?

I signed up for the 2022 book reading challenge at Goodreads. I set my goal at 25 books, but I’m hoping to read more. I’ve set aside an hour a day to read, and I’m going to stick with it. We’ll see what happens.
This is what I’ve been reading so far..
Body and Mind Are One by Thich Nhat Hanh and The Dhammapada by Eknath Easwaran – both audio books were gifted to me by my son. I’m thoroughly enjoying these books.
The Sentence by Louise Erdrich – This book was just released in November, and it has pretty amazing reviews. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ve disliked a book as much as this one in a loooong time.
A Splash of Red: The Life and Art of Horace Pippin by Jen Bryant, Melissa Sweet (Illustrator) – This was a darling little book. I really enjoyed reading this story, and the illustrations are so dear.
I started these next two books last month, and I’m still in the process of reading them…
American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins – I don’t normally read books of such a violent nature. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish this one, but it will haunt me either way..so maybe I should see it through to the end?
Violin by Anne Rice – I’m about 1/3 way through it, but it’s been a struggle. I read it before, years ago, so it’s vaguely familiar. I forgot how much grief, sadness, and madness are involved in this one, tho. It’s pretty depressing, and I’m not sure I want to finish this one either. :/
The Light of Paris by Eleanor Brown – it wasn’t my cup of tea.

If you’re like me, you like to check out books others are reading, so I’ll keep you updated. If you’re doing the Goodreads challenge also, lmk. How many books do you normally read in a year? I have no idea because I don’t usually count, but I guess this year I will be.

Reading: 23 New Behaviors We Picked Up During Quarantine
Since I’ve worked from home many years now, my day-to-day life didn’t change all that much when the quarantine hit. I only could find a couple of these “new” behaviors that I relate to.
No 1..not really. I had trouble sleeping at first, but can’t say my dreams have been vivid overall. Dealing with quarantine brain (no 2) has been a bit tricky, I agree. I’m sure you know what I mean. We’ve all been going through it.
I actually stopped watching sports (no 3) because I’m not into reruns..unless it’s old basketball games from the 90s. Michael Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Rodman, Iverson..yeah, I’ll definitely watch, but I haven’t been.
No 4 – I’ve always worn sweat pants and hoodies.
No 5 – No change. I’ve watched ASMR videos for years.
No 6 – 9: all a no for me.
No 10 – I’ve always gone through spells of staying up late or getting up early..depends on what I have going on.
No 11 – nothing changed for me
No 12 – I’ve always been a DIYer.
No 13 – I did at first, but I’ve been back on my normal intermittent fasting & omad for months now.
No 14 – not much changed
No 15 – I did find a different way to shop, and I prefer having my groceries delivered now. I will keep doing this in the future, even when covid is gone.
No 16 was a huge nope for me. Covid actually taught me what is important in life, and made me realize downtime is the most cherished part of my day. Working around the clock, like I used to, isn’t healthy. I don’t abandon myself like that anymore.
No 17 – I always prepare my own food. Because of food allergies, I can’t eat out anywhere. Those of you complaining nonstop about not being to eat in restaurants..chin up. You will eat out again. Some of us never will, and haven’t been able to for years.
No 19 – Covid has increased my meditation practice for sure. I used to be a casual meditator. I’d go through spells where I’d meditate every day, and then I wouldn’t for a week. I’ve slowly and steadily increased my meditation practice in the past year, and now I meditate 3 to 5 times every day.
No 20 – haven’t thought about it. I don’t have a bucket list.
No 21 & 22 – no change. I’ve always liked puzzles, and I don’t plan meals. I eat the same boring food over and over bc of No 17.
No 23 – Yes..definitely taking care of myself better these days.

I was messing around with my new iPhone, which I’ve had for a few months now. I haven’t bothered looking at the settings because I thought nothing had changed, and it was the same old. Sure felt that way. But ah, I was wrong because I found a new camera filter, which I’m now excited about.
I shot some of these pics using the silvertone filter. Love how deeply dark and rich the black looks. Most b&w filters I’ve tried don’t offer enough contrast, imo. I always have to bump it up in Photoshop later.
I haven’t taken any photos in the past year other than of my fur babies, and artwork. Now that covid numbers are waaay down (thanks to President Biden & science), it’s getting warmer, and I’ve found this new filter, I’m excited to go on a little adventure. I think it would be fun to shoot an entire outing with this filter, and pretend color hasn’t been invented yet. 😜
PS: now that I think about it, the silvertone filter might have been on my old phone, also. I really don’t pay attention to filters because I use the camera on my phone mostly to take photos for my listings. Please forgive me if I’m just discovering this, and I’m thinking it’s all brand new and shiny. It’s probably been around for 10 years, and I never noticed. lol
