Art journal watercolor portrait painting
WIP
It looks like one of her polka dots escaped, and made its way up on her shoulder. I wonder where it’s off to? Ha! Didn’t notice that until seeing these photos.
I painted these a few months ago, maybe last spring? If I remember right, I only used watercolors. I don’t think my obsession with gouache had kicked in yet.
I’m quite sure I created this one using a reference photo on one of those timed drawing sites I like to use. Most likely this one. If you’re looking for ideas of what to draw, I highly recommend checking it out.
Artists I’m admiring:
Viviana Schettini – oooh, how I love her work!!
Sven Svendsen (March 21, 1864 – September 6, 1945) – I love his dark, moody paintings with glowing red light.
Dmitri Cavander – I resonated with all his paintings, but there was something about this one that drew me in. When we lived in Charleston, WV, we had an apartment on the second floor. Our kitchen table was in front of a large window that overlooked McCorkle Ave, which is a busy 4 lane street in the city. One of my favorite things to do was sit at the table with my sketch book, and watch the traffic go by. The table & window looked similar to Dmitri’s painting. The view was very different, but it jarred my memory. Maybe I’ll come across an old photo, and paint it some day. Hm..I have always wanted to create a series of interior rooms. We’ll see.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fabulous creative day.
