Thought I would check in with a quick little update. I’m up to my eyeballs in paintings right now, all at various levels of being finished. It’s a little chaotic in my studio, and paint is flying everywhere. I’m looking forward to sharing everything with you in the coming weeks.
This is the mirrored image painting on 6×12 inch canvas that I’m still working on in oils. I know, I have to fix the arch in her eyebrow..I can see it in the photo, but for some reason it’s hard to see when I’ve got the painting sitting in front of me. I’ll get on that. Other than that, it’s coming along, and I’m pretty confident that I’ll have it finished by the end of the year. It will be my last portrait for this year, and it’s a good place to stop.
I’m going to be turning my attention to my cottage paintings for the month of January, and I’m happy to say I’ll be once again participating in the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. It’s been a while since I played along, so I’m excited. It’s nice to start the year off working hard at a goal. If you don’t know what 30/30 is all about, it was a challenge started by Leslie Saeta. Twice a year, artists from all over the world paint 30 paintings in 30 days, and each day we post the paintings online.
I’ll be blogging every day for the month of January, but I won’t be staying up late to post my blogs like I have in the past. Instead, I’ll be writing the posts at night, and scheduling them between 9 and 10am central time each morning. If you’re grabbing a cup of coffee at that time of day, you can take a quick glance at my blog to see what I’ve painted, if you like. Or you can subscribe below, and have each post show up in your email inbox instead.
As I’ve said a million times before, the painting part isn’t a challenge for me because I already paint a lot, but the blogging every day is hard. When I’m in the painting zone, I don’t like to stop the flow to go write a blog post. Words and paint don’t mix well for me, but I’m ready to give it another go..difficult as it might be. So look for that starting on January 1st.

What else? Oh! If you’re looking for something to watch, check out Democracy narrated by Neil Gaiman, music by Amanda Palmer. It’s a short video, but packs a powerful punch. Also, This is Us is a series I’ve been into lately on Hulu. What are you watching? Let me know in the comments. I’m always looking for something to keep me occupied when I paint.
