Ahh, new paint knives still in the wrappers. These are so sharp, I cut my hand on one the other day. I finally understood why you can’t take them on a plane, although it would still be quite difficult to do any real damage with one.

It has been raining here for the past 6 weeks or so. We’ve only seen the sun 4 or 5 days in that time, today being one of them. The sun isn’t going to last long. They’ve already put clouds in the forecast for the rest of the day, when just a few hours ago it said bright sun all day. We’re back to rain tomorrow for the next 10 days, according to the forecast right now.

My thoughts are with all the people in Texas who have experienced flooding. Some of the stories I’ve read are so sad. Lives have been lost. My heart goes out to everyone there.    

Crazy storms

We had a crazy storm here last night/early morning. Ping ball size hail, and straight line winds from 63 to 89 mph were reported. I felt our house lift during one huge gust. Poor little Harold was sitting beside me, and he went flying off the couch. He was terrified. Trees are down, roofs blown off, buildings completely blown over, brick buildings have missing walls, and there are power outages all over the city. A restaurant at the end of our street is now gone, except for one wall. It’s quite a mess. They’re saying power may not be restored until Monday. We were very lucky, and have no damage to the house or vehicles. We also didn’t lose power, but we did lose wifi for about 4 hours this afternoon.

Looking Down – The August Break

I’ve never seen this much rain in KS before.
Lots of rain. Lots of flooding.
The road is closed to our closest grocery store.
Roads are closed everywhere, and then reopened,
only to be closed again.
We usually see only bright sun, and 100F+ in the summers here.
I don’t want anyone getting mad at me,
but..this has been a nice change.

It’s a rainy (I can’t believe it!! I can’t believe it’s raining!!) springlike day. Excuse my excitement, but we’ve been in a drought for over 2 years. It never rains here, so this is truly exciting. The ground is sopping wet, and I am happy dancing around my studio. I LOVE RAIN. I love rain sooo much.

It’s going to be 66F today, and 68F 75!!! tomorrow. Makes me wonder if spring is here. February is a weird month here in Kansas. It can be very spring-like, in the 80s, like the past two years, or it can be very very cold and wintry. There were a couple years, we got a ton of snow and ice in February, so one can never tell. All I know is IT’S RAINING!!! and that means it’s going to be a GREAT day. la la laaa la laaa

When I checked my email a couple days ago, I noticed Greg had sent me a link to this video. The first 20 seconds in, I thought..what the heck? I’m not watching this!! It seems a bit nutty, and I was really groggy from taking Benadryl, and not fully functioning. Another minute, and I was like, wow, who is this guy? I was completely sucked in, and reading every word of the subtitles. By the end of the video, the Benadryl had worn off, my internal battery was completely charged up, and I was ready to paint!! I LOVE this guy!! I’m not sure I understood every word he said, but he definitely has some very valid points.

Book I’m reading: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott She’s a very interesting lady. You can read Secrets & Surprises about her here. If you don’t know much about her, like me, her not so secret secrets will surprise you. It’s hard to believe she lived so long ago. She appears to be so very modern.
