Over the weekend I read about storybook houses in Los Angeles, CA. It reminded me of this little fairy house I painted back in 2007-ish. It’s still one of my favorites.

Kinda interesting story, maybe? This painting was the reason I became “Miz Katie” back in the day. I remember posting an image of it in Yahoo groups (aww..remember Yahoo groups? It was the hottest thing around for artists at the time), and someone called me “Miz Katie” in the comments. Before long, everyone in the group was calling me Miz Katie, and I liked the sound of it. It stuck, and became my online persona/brand. Soon, everyone was calling me Miz Katie, including my family. lol

I don’t use it much anymore, but Miz Katie was the name of my Etsy shop, eBay store, website, and my nickname for 10ish years. I still own mizkatie.com, and use “Miz Katie” in my Etsy tags just in case someone tries to find me that way.

Sometimes I think I should bring MK back, but idk? Word on the street is that most professional artists go by their real name, and I should, too. Some days I miss Miz Katie, tho. She was definitely more extraverted, feistier, funnier, and had more energy that I do. lol
