Handmade book art – The Beautiful Winter Part 2
Glittery snow
Despite what I wrote yesterday, I’m crossing fingers we’ll actually see some snow this year, but if not, I have this page full of fake snow to look at whenever I want.

Art is not about thinking something up. It is the opposite — getting something down.

Momma always warned,
“Never eat the yellow snow!”
Some of us had to figure things out in life the hard way.
🙁
After seeing this little book come to life, and the story I was able to tell within the pages, it inspired me to make another book like this one (I’ll be showing you soon). Making that book led to cutting covers and paper for several more books, and the ball is rolling. After a long intermission, I’m a book making fool once again. For those who don’t know, I started off making books, and I sold them on eBay back in 2001. 🙂 It’s how I met my husband. He used to purchase books from me. Pretty crazy!!

love that little sideways heart, which I didn’t plan or see until I looked at the photo
I went ahead and covered the pages with Dorland’s Wax to prevent them from sticking. I still have to stamp some words/titles on the pages, but I have to purchase some new ink first. I tried to stamp first, but the ink smeared when I put the wax on. It was my first time using Ranger’s Distress Ink, and I didn’t realize it is water based. Oops!

Handmade book art – The Beautiful Winter Part 2
Part 1 is here
PS: This book isn’t for sale. There’s a slight possibility that I’ll offer a couple for sale in the future, but I’m not placing bets that will happen. These little buggers are a labor of love, and take a great deal of time to plan and create. Not to mention photograph, and all that other stuff that would come next if I offered them for sale. My desire is to do this for fun, not work. I want to keep some for myself, and send some as gifts to family and friends.
