Just as I started to paint yesterday, it began to snow hard. It wasn’t in the forecast, so it was a fun surprise. The wind was whipping the huge snow flakes around my window in the most romantic way, and it inspired me to paint this abstract painting. I titled it Jigsaw Puzzles and Hot Cocoa.
I don’t know why, but seeing the snow falling triggered a memory of being on a mountain in AR a couple months ago. Thinking of the cabin reminded me how there was nothing to do there, except play checkers, cards or put together a jigsaw puzzle, and how relaxing it was to just be for a change. That memory triggered another memory of getting back from a long hike, and drinking hot chocolate, and how good it tasted. That lead me to think, ah..jigsaw puzzles, and hot cocoa, and there you have the long drawn out reason for the title of this painting. 🙂 It’s an acrylic impasto palette knife painting on canvas. It’s available for purchase here.

My paint palette for faces = lots of colors.
I snapped this shot the other day just before starting to paint a face for 29 Faces. As you can tell, I’m not afraid of color in my portraits. 😉
Maude had a few things to say to Harold, but he wasn’t listening.
The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek therefore, not to find out Who You Are, but seek to determine Who You Want to Be.
