Lots going on behind the scenes this week. I’m finally getting around to photographing some of my larger paintings. It’s a chore I’ve put off for far too long. Blog posts will be short this week while I work on this, and several other projects, like painting my office, updating my website, and negotiating prices in a big art sale I’m having in my Miz Katie shop. If you see something you like, make me an offer. This applies to original paintings only, not prints. I really want to clear out some old paintings to make room for new ones. The only thing off limits are a couple of the newer oil paintings I recently painted, The Swimmer and Not to be Caged come to mind. Pretty much everything else is fair game.
Out with the old. In with the new. Change is in the air. I’m thinking BIG for the summer or at least bigger than I usually paint. Nine times out of ten, when someone contacts me on Etsy it’s because they want larger paintings. “Do you have this in a larger size?” they write me. I think people confuse original paintings with clothing prints, and don’t understand that original means it is what it is. That said, I’m listening, and things are in motion.
I have quite a few large paintings that have been hanging around my house for the past 3 or 4 years. I finished them, and didn’t have room in storage, so I hung them on my walls. Then I forgot about them, which isn’t a good thing. They were never meant for me to keep, so I’ve pulled them down off the walls. You’ll see them soon, if they don’t go off to a gallery first. We’ll see.
Also, did you notice I put up an art portfolio, and a new section for my book art last week? It’s not nearly complete yet, so stay tuned for more. Wooo! It’s going to be a week.
