I’m using my Windows laptop to type this because my Mac died two weeks ago. Unfortunately, after working on it myself for a few days, and then having it looked at by Apple support, I was told my Mac is old, and can’t be fixed.
I’ve been a bit discombobulated ever since. I have two separate, very different businesses with 6 stores, atm. I’m lost without my images, files, and spreadsheets. It’s been challenging to say the least.
For now, I’ve had to pause all print sales. I’ve hidden my giclee print page on Daily Paintworks. I’ve also taken down other print listings I had on eBay and Etsy.
While I wait for my new Mac to be built, I’m doing the best I can with what I have to work with, which is this horribly slow, incredibly frustrating laptop.
Just to give you an idea of how s l o w this thing is, it took me 4 hours yesterday to resize 12 photos – something that normally takes about 10 minutes. It took over an hour to open my email app. Websites take anywhere from 10 to never ever, UH uh, no way ma’am mins to load. It’s like I’ve gone back to Win 3.1 & the dial up days.
I only have a handful of apps installed, and they’re all painfully slow. Every few seconds this thing is either “unresponsive” and the screen is grayed out or I get the spinning wheel. I think it’s all the bloatware Microsoft installs, and every time it updates, it adds more. Ugh. But hey, it’s getting me through in a pinch. I’m able to keep working at a snail’s pace, at least.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to retrieve everything from Time Machine on my external drive once I receive the new Mac. If I can’t, I’m sure life will go on, and I’ll figure something out.
