Before
After
I revised this painting a few weeks ago, and looking at the photos now, I should have been happy with how it turned out. I’m especially fond of the shade of pink I mixed for her shirt.
Unfortunately, at the time, I must not have been pleased with how I painted her face because this is what happened next..
I destroyed her new face, and now I have to fix it. Sigh. This is why it’s a good idea to sit with your work for a day or two, and not react in the moment. Relax, take some photos, create some space between you and the painting, and see if you warm up to it. You might regret it otherwise. ::wah::
I’m not sure what’s going to happen from here with this painting. I could try to paint it the same as it was or give her a completely different face. Idk? We’ll see.
Reading: My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh – this was quite a dismal read. I don’t recommend it, esp if you’re triggered by depressing thoughts/behavior and/or drug use/abuse. I didn’t read any reviews before I read this book, and I should have. It really angered and disturbed a lot of people. I didn’t have the same reaction toward it, but I can see why some would, especially during this time.
Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May – For many personal reasons, I needed to read this book right now, and perhaps you do, too? I grabbed a hot cup of tea, curled up with the kittehs & puppy, and read the first half in one sitting. I didn’t want to stop. I’m going to finish it up today, and most likely buy a copy. This is a book I want to own, so I can reread as often as I want.
Listening: A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle – This one isn’t impacting me as much as his first book, but I’m learning new things, nonetheless.
Watching: Life in Color – how amazing nature is, eh?
Have a great week. xo
