Day 129
*****
I started the new theme for December yesterday morning. I’m pretty excited to see where it will lead me. I’m going to be doing something different this month. Instead of finishing a painting a day, I’ve decided to cut the time I’m spending on this daily painting project drastically.
I found the title written on the page under the painting.

Day 130

And, by “drastically”, I mean I’m only going to be working on the project for 5 minutes a day. !!! I knoooow, right? I’ll just be getting started, and have to stop. The horrors!! So, why does it sound so perfect to me? lol
5 minute painting is going to be a fun, exciting challenge, and I think it’s just enough time for what I want to accomplish this month. Why only 5 minutes you ask? Well, over the years, sooooo many people have complained to me that they don’t have time to paint, and then they run down this long list of excuses. Kids, work, aging parents, aging self, illness, school..the list goes on and on. It got me thinking. hm..is it true that there is absolutely no time to paint or are people not making painting a priority? Truthfully, I think it’s the latter, and using “not having time” is..well, an excuse not to do what you love. Sounds like self punishment to me. Why are we so mean to ourselves, I wonder? hm..
I can’t help thinking that despite all of life’s obstacles surely everyone has 5 minutes to spare each day for something you love to do. I mean, it’s only 5 minutes. How difficult can it be? Get up 5 minutes early. Go to bed 5 minutes later. Turn off the TV. Skip your daily shower. haha Just kidding about that one!! Please continue to shower.
All joking aside, I think it’s entirely possible to get a lot accomplished in only 5 minutes a day, so I want to prove that you can fit painting into your busy schedule. The results will be worth the effort, I guarantee!!

Day 131
*****
How I’m going to do it..I’m going to ask Siri to set my 5 minute timer for me, and begin. When the timer on my phone goes off, my hands will go up in the air like they do on those cooking shows when they yell “time’s up!!”. I promise, I’m going to do this in the most dramatic way possible every single day for 30 days, just for some added fun. 😀 Then, I’ll take a photo of my progress, which I’ll be posting here on my blog. I’ll continue working on the same painting for 5 minutes each day throughout the month, until I’m finished with it. Then, I’ll start a new one.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to finish a painting at this rate. It might take only a couple days or it might take the entire month. You’ll have to stay tuned to find out, as will I.
Since I’ve painted ahead of my blog, you won’t see the results of the 5 minute challenge until next Saturday. I still have more portraits to post here from last month, but I’ll soon have you up to speed. No worries.
PS: if you want to do the 5 minute painting challenge along with me, please let me know. Maybe I’ll sent up a FB group or something if there’s enough interest.
Set interim goals, preferably daily goals.
