I did it! I finally bought the Paul Rubens oil pastels that I’ve been lusting after now for months. I noticed this box of 50 was on sale on Amazon a couple weeks back. I paid $26.81 for them, which included tax. I saved $1.30 on them by clipping the coupon. I’ve wanted to try this brand because I bought a pack of the Paul Rubens white oil pastels a few months ago, and liked them.
Just something to note, if you buy these from Amazon – they didn’t ship these pastels in box. All the other pastels I’ve bought in the past have been inside an Amazon shipping box or bag. This time Amazon slapped the mailing label on the outside of the oil pastels, and that’s how these arrived. I was a little surprised to see them sitting on my front step like that. I’m pretty sure it came from the local Amazon here, and not shipped from another state. The pastel box wasn’t damaged in any way or dirty.
I’m not sure how I feel about seeing the pastels sitting out in the open on my step like that, leaning against my house. Anyone walking by could have stolen them, but then again, anyone could have stolen an Amazon box, also. So..I guess I’ll applaud Amazon for not wasting a box (although, cardboard is never wasted around here because I cut up all my cardboard boxes and reuse them as substrate).
Anyway, moving along..the pastels are beautiful, aren’t they? Lots of colors to choose from, which makes me happy. There are 50 pastels altogether, plus an extra white.
I’m not going to do swatches of these. There are plenty of artists who have already done that, and you can look it up on youtube, if you like. I don’t generally swatch any new supplies. I usually jump in, and get started on a new drawing, which is what I did this time, also. I’ll write more about my experience using these Paul Rubens oil pastels in my next blog. Stay tuned.
I hope you have a lovely creative day. If you have littles, I hope they have a fantastic night trick or treating. 🙂 If you like this blog post, please share it using the buttons below.
