I wish I could say I loved this book with all my heart, but sadly, I didn’t. Arrgh..I just hate saying that. I looked forward to reading this book for a long time, and was excited to get started. From there, things went downhill pretty quickly.
I had this book in my home for a month, and still didn’t finish reading it before the due date was up for the second time. I tried. I really did, and maybe it was the election going on that was distracting me, but I feel as if the book fell flat in many different ways. It was an okay descriptive piece of work, but what good is a well described scene if the characters and storyline are lacking? It failed to make me care or hold my attention. I’d read a few pages, and put the book down for a couple days. One afternoon I tried to give it a real good go, and read 130 pages in one sitting. I was still left unimpressed.
Time was running out, and I’m only allowed to renew a book once before returning it to the library. I was curious about the ending, and wondered if it was worth the time it would take me to read the last 120 pages or so. I decide to look the ending up online. Again, it left me feeling meh. The book went back to the library without me finishing it.
I was pretty disappointed in the book overall. I was hoping for more, and for some reason Water for Elephants comes to mind. I really enjoyed reading that one back in 2009 or so, but this one, I’d give 2.5 stars out of 5. Sorry, Erin.
I’m on a short reading break now, but have several new books lined up. Can’t wait to dig in, and start reading again. I’ve been too busy with work atm, but soon.
