I’m counting the days until I go back to blogging 3 days a week once 30 paintings in 30 days is over. I don’t ever get tired of painting, but the blogging every day is exhausting, especially since I try to blog more than just a photo of my newest painting. I like linking to music, books, quotes, poems, and things I find online, too. Having those days off in between posts gives me more time to gather and collect.
Speaking of music, I found a new-to-me site a couple weeks ago, and wanted to share it with you. NoiseTrade is AWEsome!! All the music is free to download for your personal use. If you’d like, you can leave the artist a tip.

Yay! It’s the weekend, which means my husband has the day off from the office. I think he’s going to some hiking meetup or something. Convention, maybe? Idk. I don’t remember what it’s called. It’s a guy thing, anyway.
I’ll be painting away in my studio. What’s new, right? 🙂 I had to take care of some personal business over the week, so I feel like I’m a little behind. I hope I catch up fast today, and get a lot done. But, first..breakfast! A bowl of grapes, a banana, and maybe an apple with sunflower seeds on it. Yum!!

I am making lots of positive changes.

So far, 2014 has been a very good year.
This is the time of day when the winter sun splashes onto my work area. You can see it there on the table, and up on the wall. If I turn toward the window, the light hits me in the face, and blinds me. My studio is starting to show the wear and tear of painting every day without cleaning up in between. I actually work best this way. I know where everything is, such as the orange creamy pastel is where I left it, under that piece of paper toward the right. My brain maps out, and memorizes.
The sign on the wall says IN YOUR FACE. The journal I’m working in is being crowded off the table. Any minute now it’s going to fall on the floor, which is okay. I like my journals best after I’ve bruised them.

Art Journal Project
Wanda and I started an art journal project back in 2009. We just finished it up last week, and this is the book I got to keep. What a project this was with many starts and stops..and many, many life changes for both of us since 2009. My grandfather died. My mother died. Two of my cats died. I got married. Her daughter got married. Her mother, father, and sister died. Lots of heavy stuff. We can close the chapter on these two books, finally..but I have a feeling there will always be a project brewing between us.

I urge everyone to partner up with someone special, and do this..even if it takes you 4 years to complete. It was worth the time, and it didn’t cost us much money to ship the books back and forth..we each did a large chunk of work at a time, so it wouldn’t be too expensive. There were times when we didn’t see a book for 6 months or more, and then we’d swap them back..and what a surprise it was to receive it in the mail, and see how much the other person accomplished.

And, now to hold a finished book in my hands..ahh!! It’s magical, I say!

Something a little different today..I painted something just for me! That’s a shocker!! I never paint for myself, so it was time. Yay! Collaged painting on my new notebook. I got my inspiration from Alisa Burke‘s blog post a couple weeks ago called Back to school altered notebooks. 🙂 I’m going to keep this one at my desk for jotting down notes while I’m online.
I need to hire a maid for my studio. There are three other tables that look worse than this one. No room to work!! Ack.
I found this on Pinterest the other day, so thought I’d share..When You Hate Your Handwriting: 8 Lettering Ideas for Your Art Journal. These are great ideas.
